Eden Project begins around the same time as the original Vampire Knight storyline. This is set before Yuuki is bitten by Zero, and any events following said scene have yet to occur.

A Letter from the Chairman is sent out to every student, giving anyone the opportunity to participate in Eden Project. Those accepted are gathered together in front of the Moon Dormitory for an introduction party. Zero saves Kiri after finding her passed out in front of the dorm. After a major ass-whooping at the arcade, Ako reveals her secret to Kiri. Ako and Shiki have a snack and a drink on the terrace after classes.

Kiri bites her tongue, and Sou comes to the rescue. Ako and Kiri have an internet conversation. Kaname and Kiri find out they have a to work on a school project together, and end up talking philosophy.

September
Tetsu Kiri is given a surprise birthday party that everyone in Eden Project must attend.

Please note that original characters will be evaluated much more strictly than those in the original Vampire Knight storyline. This is to avoid unbelievable, or bland characters (most especially ones with little to no dimension) that might conflict with the nature of the majority of the Vampire Knight cast. Original characters need a distinctive personality, and must be flawed enough to be believable. Super powers, sparkly hair, and unattainable good fortune are examples of things that will get you rejected for May Sue-ism.

*No Godmodding*
Violators will be shot. Survivors will be shot again.

*Use good spelling and grammar*
Nobody's perfect, but there's a difference between a few mistakes, and bad writing. If you don't know what third person or first person point of view means, or if the idea of spell-check is a foreign concept, this probably isn't the community for you.

L337, or the use of IM speak (lol, ur, omg, etc.) in logs or journals will not be permitted. Violators suffer the same punishment as godmodders. <3

*Stay in character*
We understand that everyone plays each character with a different voice, and that certain circumstances within the community give leave for creative license, but try to be as believable as possible. If you are playing an original character, you have much more freedom with that character's personality, but please make them as believable and multi-dimensional as possible. Bad OC's will be booted~

*The mods' word is law*
A complaint or a suggestion here and there is fine. If you have a problem with any of us, please let us know. But in the end, our word is law, and if you blatantly refuse to go along with the rules and guidelines we have set, you can and will be removed from this community. Remember, this is a dictatorship, not a democracy. <3

*Keep drama 'In Character'*
Drama is good for this community. In fact, we love drama. <3 But keep in mind that you are not your character. Please, please, please don't take IC drama as a personal jab to yourself. If you have a problem with one of the players, take it up with that player. If you can't work it out, contact one of the mods and we'll try to help. If it becomes too much of a problem, we will not hesitate to fix it ourselves.

*Posting Regulations*
The minimum posting requirement for each character is two journals a month, and one log a month. We would prefer more activity, but we understand that real life tends to get in the way.

*Activity checks and hiatus*
There will be an activity check at the end of each month. This is to make sure every character is functioning as they should, and that inactive players will be weeded out fairly quickly. It's not fair to other's if an important character is taken, and then never played.

If you are going on hiatus, please leave a note in the OOC comm. Though there is no set limit to the length of a hiatus, if you will be gone for more than two months, you may want to consider dropping the character.

Check out the Taken and Reserved Characters page to make sure your desired character is available. Applications for taken characters will be ignored. <3 It's best if you go ahead and reserve a character you're thinking about picking up, though it's not required.

*Character Limit*
Currently, since the cast of Vampire Knight is so limited, and there are only twenty-four slots available for Eden Project, each player is only allowed to have 2 characters at any given time. One from the original Vampire Knight cannon, and one original character.

Guide to Roleplaying on Livejournal

For those of you who are new to the Livejournal roleplay scene, below is a quick, simple guide to help you better understand how everything works. If you have any questions, please contact Kodu-mod at malakakane@gmail.com .

It's best to think of roleplaying as writing one big, collaborative book. Only you control your character, but each person is equally important in the grand scheme of things.

Most LJ roleplays consist of three communities.

1) The RP Board
- This is the main board, where players post up "logs" they have done with others.

2) The OOC Board
- The "Out of Character" Board is for any posts not made "in character". If you're new to the community, you post an introduction here; or, if you're going on hiatus, you let everyone know by leaving a message on the OOC Board.

3) The Message Board
- The Message Board is where you post public announcements, in character. Think of it as a cork board set up in the school's hallway. Anyone can post a message there... but any message can be read by others.

i.e. "Party at Shawn's house, 9pm. Bring a drink."

Anyone who knows where Shawn's house is could come, and anyone passing by could read this.

Exceptions to the rule are if it's marked "private".

i.e.
[Private to Sue, James, and Josh]

Party at Shawn's house, 9pm. Bring a drink.

[/Private]

Because this message is private to Sue, James, and Josh, only they can read it.

... Don't ask me how. :\

Another important part of Livejournal Roleplaying are Character Journals.

A Character Journal is simply your character's online journal. You treat it as you would any blog, only the person typing the message is your character, and not yourself.

Consider this: If you have a Myspace, or Livejournal, or Blog, you can type out the events of the day, or any kind of information you would like to tell your online friends.

This is the same thing, only you pretend to be your character.

Remember to write journals in first person point of view.

You can mark any entry, or part of an entry, as "private" in your character journal.

Do not actually set the post to private. You want other players to read it... saying it is "private" only means they can't respond to it.

i.e.

[Private]

Cake is a lie.

[/Private]

As a player, you can read what was under "private", but you pretend your character cannot.

You can also mark either the entire entry "private", or only certain parts.

i.e.

My friend had cake today.

[Private]

Cake is a lie.

[/Private]

Your character can read and respond to, "My friend had cake today", but not, "Cake is a lie."

Other terms are:

[Private, unhackable] - This absolutely, under any circumstances, cannot be read or replied to by your character.

[Private, hackable] - This is something that is semi-private. It can be read and responded to, if you so choose.

[Private, to CHARACTER NAME(S)] - For private messages that only specific characters can read and respond to.

Logging is what truly makes a Livejournal Roleplay. A log is when two or more players get together, and have their characters act out a scene. Logs are written in third person point of view, and are what make up this "collaborative book".

There are several ways to log with someone. Through AIM, on Gdocs, E-mail, or you can begin a thread in the RP Board, and comment back and forth. When logging, you take turns with each player: One character will say or do something, and then another character will follow that with their response.

Each response is called a "tag".

It's common to write " [Tag!] " at the end of each reply, to let the other player know it is their turn to reply. When logging with more than one other person, you need to specify whose tag it is.

i.e.

[Tag, to Kaname!]

If it doesn't matter who responds, then just write:

[Tag, to anyone!]

If you're logging through a thread on the RP Board, then writing "tag" at the end of a post is unnecessary. Each individual comment is its own tag.

Introduction Letter

Dear Academy Student,

As you all know, the school has, up until this point, been run by logic and order; divided into two classes, for optimum academic capability. We take pride in our system, and have found that it has served its purpose well.

That being said, let me bring to the attention of my cute students the fruition of a new system.

The design of Cross Academy is, firstly, academic.

Secondly, and much less known, is the fact that this school was also created with a far more social purpose in mind.

It is unfair to separate this academy in order of intelligence and social standing.

It is also unfair to thrust an abrupt change on my dear students.

This letter has been sent to every student, to every family, in the hopes of finding a select few who are willing to participate in a very special program.

Eden Project is an experiment in group behavioral patterns. Can an elite class mingle with those not within their immediate circle of familiarity? Can people from a normal society learn to cope and accept certain nuances of the eccentric?

Can both Day and Night coexist?

I have been asking myself this question ever since the beginning of our first term here at Cross Academy.

And the only answer is: We can surely try.

For anyone interested, the details of the program are as follows:

Twelve students will be chosen from each class to participate. Twelve from Day Class, and twelve from Night Class. Enrollment is limited for now, but if the experiment goes as planned, more may be accepted over time.

These twenty-four students will be housed in the Moon Dormitory, two to a room, each hall separated by gender.

Those in Day Class will take on the schedule of those in Night Class; that is, classes begin at dusk, and end early morning.

Both Day and Night will coexist as one, separated from the rest of the school.

It is with utmost humility I present this project to my cute students. My hopes are that, one day, Day and Night Class can learn to live together, in harmony.

Cross Academy. A school of the highest caliber. Where the sons and daughters of the rich, the powerful, the prestigious, are tempered and trained to accept the lives they are destined to inherit.

A segregating line runs within the school, and as of yet, none have succeeded in crossing it.

Day Class and Night Class.

Those students in Day Class are what the Academy might call 'mediocre', or 'well off'. They are marked by the black uniforms they wear, by the chipper attitudes, the light which streams through the windows as class begins. They are the majority.

The select few in Night Class are those revered among an ocean of prestige. Their academic standing sets them apart from the exceptional students in Day, and something... something about them - the way they carry themselves, how they speak, and act - makes them nigh inapproachable.

Logically, the only thing keeping someone from crossing that invisible line is academic standing.

But no matter how many A++'s the smartest student in Day Class receives... they still aren't allowed to cross over into Night Class.

It's suspicious, and silly, and it seems, finally, the Chairman has realized that something must be done.
